The Film Festival Les Percéides in Gaspésie opens registrations for its 2015 edition
In preparation for the 7th edition of the International Film Festival Les Percéides to be held in Percé, Gaspésie, from August 26 to 30, 2015, all filmmakers, distributors, and producers have until April 15, 2015 to submit films produced after January 1, 2014 (long and short fiction, documentary, animation, experimental film).
FILM SCREENINGS AND MEETINGS WITH THE PUBLIC
In August 2015, the Festival Les Percéides will be pleased to continue its partnership with the Old Factory of L'Anse-à-Beaufils, a cultural haven high in the region located near the village of Percé. This will the main site for both the festival official selection screenings and the meetings with the filmmakers and the public. In addition, the popular movie nights on the beach near the Percé docks will also be scheduled in the festival program. Finally, the Festival Les Percéides will open this year with a selection devoted to digital arts. Esther Bourdages, the independent curator and art critic originally from the Bas St-Laurent region, will be responsible for this new section of the program.
2015 Jury Award
Finally, a professional jury, whose members will be announced in the spring, will award talented filmmakers from among the festival selections. These awards include the Percéides Grand Special Jury Prize for the best film in the festival official selection and the Best Canadian Film Prize of the official selection. The jury will also award the Best Gaspésien Film Prize, while the People’s Choice Award will be awarded by the audience.
The Festival Les Percéides aims to both promote independent cinema to the public in Gaspésie and to participate in the discovery of promising young talent in contemporary cinema. Held every summer since 2008, the festival has presented an official selection of feature films from the region and abroad, as well as documentary programs and short films. It has also organized numerous meetings between filmmakers and the public. Let us recall that the Festival Les Percéides 6th edition featured more than sixty films and was a great success with several sold out screenings.
