Les Percéides Film Festival rescheduling its 2nd edition to August 2010
Outstanding circumstances along with budgetary restrictions have required organizers to postpone to August 2010 the second edition of LES PERCÉIDES: INTERNATIONAL FILM AND ART FESTIVAL OF PERCÉ. This event was supposed to take place in the resort town of Percé on the Gaspé Peninsula from August 19th to 23rd 2009.
Les Percéides Film Festival is a new cinematographic event mainly promoting the ‘films d’auteur’ genre to audiences living in Quebec regions as well as presenting an opportunity for all to discover promising young talent, newly appearing on the contemporary movie scene. Since 2008, Les Percéides has held two successful winter movie nights in Percé, - LA NUIT DU CINÉMA À PERCÉ -, as well as its very first August 2008 edition of the PERCÉ INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, which also marked the 40th year of the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, featuring many attending guests and several North-American film premiere presentations.
Les Percéides Film Festival organizers wish to take this opportunity to sincerely thank their current partners, their many colleagues and the public who have all shown unyielding support at launching this professional film event on the Gaspé Coast. Many thanks as well to all filmmakers and artists, particularly to Quebec’s young upcoming filmmakers, programmers and producers who had accepted to come to the Festival in August and show their films to the Gaspesian public at the “Regards sur le jeune cinéma d’auteur” event, that was to be held August 20th to 23rd.
Please note that all Film Festival activities are postponed to August 2010. Such activities include the Percé community documentary-film workshops, the young directors’ film event: ”En avant jeunesse! Regards sur le jeune cinéma d’auteur d’ici et d’ailleurs” and the official film selection for Les Percéides: International Film and Art Festival of Percé (August 19-23 2009), which was to be announced at the August 3rd 2009 press conference.
