Réalisatrice

Oksana Karpovych is a film writer, director and photographer born in Kyiv (Ukraine), living in Montreal and working in between the two. In her personal projects, Karpovych explores everyday lives of the common people and how the state politics invades the personal sphere and the influence it has on the communities she intimately documents. Karpovych is a Cultural Studies graduate from “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” National University in Ukraine and Film Production graduate from Concordia University in Montreal. Her first feature documentary film Don’t Worry, The Doors Will Open (2019) won New Vision Award at RIDM in Montreal and received a honorable mention in the Emerging Canadian Filmmaker category at Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival (Toronto, 2020).
